Order Your First Server Through the Netrouting Shop

Sep 21, 2026 8 min read

Ordering at Netrouting is a shop, not a sales call. You configure the machine at shop.netrouting.com, check out with or without an existing account, pay the invoice, and watch the install happen from the portal. Nothing is charged until you pay, and setup starts the moment you do. This guide walks through it once, with the things worth knowing before you click.

Before you start: what can be configured, and where

Three product lines behave differently at checkout.

  • Bare metal is the configurable one: memory, disks, RAID layout, operating system, bandwidth, IP blocks, DDoS tier, and a set of tick-box addons. What is on offer depends on the server's port speed, see the table.
  • Cloud Compute and Optimized Cloud instances are fixed sizes. At checkout you choose the OS template and can add disk (10 to 2000 GB at €0.10 per GB per month); Optimized Cloud also takes backup slots. One IPv4 address and the plan's transfer are included, and there is no bandwidth or IP option to change on the order form.
  • Colocation is priced entirely by options: location, term, rack units, power, IP block and either metered or unmetered bandwidth.

On bare metal the port the server is built with decides the network options:

Line Port and included transfer Unmetered options IPv4 blocks Addons
Express / Instant (E3-1230 v3) 1G, 17 TB outbound none 1 address, or a /29 none
Edge (E3-1270 v6, Ryzen 7 3700X) 1G, 100 TB outbound 1G or 2G unmetered 1 address, /29 to /26 full set
Edge Pro and up (Ryzen 9, EPYC 4545P, Bandwidth, Compute, Accelerator, Pro, Memory) 10G, 100 TB outbound 1G, 2G, 5G, 10G or 20G unmetered, or internal network only 1 address, /29 to /26 full set

Metered plans count outbound traffic only; inbound is free. The addon set on Edge and above is IPv6 /64, private network (VLAN), bring your own IP space, bring your own ASN, and the two managed-service options. Every bare-metal server comes with 20 Gbps DDoS protection included; 50 Gbps premium is €50 more.

Two more choices you will meet on bare metal:

  • Instant or custom build. Instant means a machine of that spec is in stock at that location and is yours within minutes of payment. Custom means it is assembled to your specification by our engineers, and the product page tells you the lead time (typically three to five business days). The product page shows how many are available for instant deployment per location.
  • Price lock. On plans that offer it, you can fix the monthly rate for 12, 24 or 36 months. There is no charge for the lock and billing stays monthly. It needs a short agreement after checkout and runs from the day that is signed.

Step 1: Configure the server

  1. Open shop.netrouting.com, pick a category, and filter by location if you already know where the machine should live. The cards show the base price and whether instant stock exists at that location.
  2. Click Configure on a plan. The page is grouped the way you think about a server: Location and billing cycle at the top, then Hardware (memory, primary disks, secondary disks, RAID), Software (operating system, SSH key), and Network (bandwidth, IPv4, DDoS).
  3. Choose the billing cycle. Monthly is the default; quarterly and annual are offered on bare metal.
  4. Set the bandwidth. The included metered allowance is pre-selected; the unmetered ladder for that line sits next to it with the monthly price of each step.
  5. Set IPv4 addresses if one is not enough. Blocks are /29 (5 usable) to /26 (61 usable); see IP addresses on Netrouting servers for what usable means. IPv6 is a free addon further down on Edge and above.
  6. Tick any addons you need. Managed services are quoted on the invoice rather than on the page.
  7. Set the quantity if you want several identical machines. Each one gets its own hostname at checkout.
  8. Click Add to cart. The cart badge in the header counts the line; you can keep configuring other plans or go to checkout.
A bare-metal product page in the shop: location flags, billing cycle, the deployment-type note and the running summary on the right
Location, cycle and deployment type first. The summary on the right updates with every choice.
The Network section of the product page: the bandwidth ladder from 10G metered to 20G unmetered, IPv4 blocks from /29 to /26, and the DDoS protection choice
A 10G line: the whole unmetered ladder, IPv4 blocks up to a /26, and the DDoS tier.
Lower on the product page: the addon tiles for IPv6, private network, BYOIP, BYOASN and managed services, the price-lock terms, and the cart badge showing one item
Addons and the price-lock terms, with the line already in the cart.

Step 2: Check out

You do not need an account to browse or to configure. Checkout asks for the details any invoice needs, and creates the account from them.

  1. Open the cart and click Checkout. Each machine in the cart has a proposed hostname; edit it now if you want something other than the suggestion.
  2. Choose New customer or I have an account. Existing customers sign in with their Amóni email and password (if two-factor is on, sign in through the portal first; the cart is kept).
  3. New customers fill in name, email, a password, and the billing details: company if it is a business, VAT number for EU businesses, address and phone. These go on the invoice, which is why they are required.
  4. Have a promotion or offer code? Apply it in the summary panel.
  5. Check the total. Prices are shown excluding VAT. Dutch customers pay Dutch VAT; EU businesses with a valid VAT number are reverse-charged; customers outside the EU and customers of our US entity are outside its scope. The invoice confirms which applies.
  6. Click Create account & order (or Confirm order when signed in).
The checkout page as a new customer: name, email and password fields on the left, the order summary with hostname, options and total on the right
The summary lists every option the price carries, and the hostname the machine will get.

Step 3: The two checks on a first order

A first order is held until two things are done. Nothing is charged while it waits, and it is placed automatically the moment the last step completes, so there is nothing to re-enter. Ordering again does not speed it up. The hold is kept for 14 days.

  1. Confirm your email. The activation message is titled with your order reference. Click the link and the order goes through.
  2. Verify your identity (individuals) or your business (companies). One button on the hold page opens our verification provider's secure page. About two minutes with a government ID; a few minutes for a company registration check. Details in verify your account.
The held-order page: the order reference, the line being held, and a single Verify identity button
One page, one thing to do. The reference is in your email too.

Both checks are once per account. Every later order skips this step.

Step 4: Pay the invoice

The invoice arrives by email and sits under Billing in the portal. Pay it by card from the invoice page; you can save the card and switch on auto-pay so later invoices settle themselves. Other ways to pay are listed on the invoice itself. Setup begins the moment payment is registered.

Step 5: Watch the setup

After payment the portal takes you to the setup page (also under Orders). It shows each machine on the order with its state, and a terminal that narrates what our systems are doing. Every line there follows a real event; nothing is invented.

The setup page after payment: one server installing with its address shown, one cloud instance ready, and a terminal narrating the steps
One machine still installing, one ready. The address appears as soon as it is assigned.

The states you will see:

State Meaning
Awaiting payment The invoice is open. Setup starts when it is paid.
Registering, Finding a machine The service is being registered and matched to stock. Usually minutes.
Installing, Creating The operating system is going on (bare metal) or the instance is being created (cloud). The IP address is shown here as soon as it exists.
Ready Done. The address and the root login are on this page, in your email, and under Orders.
Custom build Your machine is being assembled by our engineers. You get an email when it is ready, within the lead time shown at checkout.
With our team Colocation, network and license orders are handled by people. The details arrive by email, usually within one business day.
Needs our attention Something went wrong on our side. We have already been notified; you do not need to do anything.

The root password is shown once on this page and sent to your email. If you stored an SSH key before ordering it is already installed; see SSH keys on Netrouting.

The Orders page listing the account's services with hostname, address, status, price and next due date
Everything you have ordered, grouped by order. Cancellations are requested per service from here.

After it is ready

The server appears under Servers (or Virtual Machines) with its power controls, console, reinstall and rescue tabs. Three things most people do first: set reverse DNS for the address, open the remote console once so it is familiar before you need it, and look at the bandwidth graphs after the first day of traffic.

Troubleshooting

  • I want to change the configuration but the order is held. Use Change the order instead on the hold page. The held order is replaced by the new checkout.
  • I paid but the page still says awaiting payment. Card payments register within a minute. A bank transfer takes until it is booked. If a card payment shows as paid on your side and not here after fifteen minutes, open a ticket with the invoice number.
  • The product page says the configuration is out of stock at my location. Instant stock is per location. Pick another location for same-day delivery, or keep the location and accept the custom-build lead time.
  • I cannot add more IPs or unmetered bandwidth. On the Express and Instant line that is by design: a /29 is the largest block and the port is metered only. Choose an Edge or Edge Pro plan for larger blocks and unmetered options.
  • The order shows Needs our attention. Our team has been notified automatically. If you have not heard from us within a few hours, open a ticket quoting the order reference.
  • I ordered the wrong thing. Before payment, nothing has happened yet; let the hold expire or contact sales with the reference. After payment, open a ticket the same day.

Still stuck?

Email sales@netrouting.com with the order reference, or open a support ticket from the portal once you are signed in. Quoting the reference lets us see exactly where the order is.
